Jeff Wayne – Jeff Comedy Jam

Jeff Wayne Jeff Comedy Jam
Now available on iTunes!   Jeff Wayne - Jeff Jam

“I asked a few celebrity friends of mine to write the liner notes for this album. They all quickly declined. Undaunted (a grand word!) I decided to tackle the task myself. Wanting to be hip I thought I would write this in Ebonics. However, I find that, while Ebonics can be spoken, it cannot be written. This was a setback. If it can’t be written, it can’t be read.

If you like this CD you may want to get my first one. Many people didn’t. The poor fools — they don’t know what they’re missing. I hope this album makes you laugh, and while you’re listening and laughing, don’t forget people are being tortured at this very moment with cattle prods in Chile. Enjoy.”

Clinton Jackson

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

Born and raised in Oakland, California, Cinton Jackson is the youngest of 3 and the only son. An imaginative child inclined to perform, Clinton stood empty handed at “Show & Tell”, told his jokes and officially claimed his identity as a stand-up comic at the age of 9.

After graduating from high school Clinton began to hone his craft in San Francisco’s thriving comedy scene, quickly moving up the ranks to become one of the youngest headliners around. He has appeared on many stand-up comedy television shows including his own half hour special on Comedy Central and most recently The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson. When not headlining his own shows Clinton has been the opening act for such notable artist as Aretha Franklin, Donna Summer, Dennis Miller, Chris Rock, and Steven Wright. Clinton has also recorded and released two full length comedy CDs, both of which are regularly featured on satellite radio comedy channels.

Following an acclaimed showing at HBO’s prestigious Aspen Comedy Festival, Clinton was cast to co-star as affable science teacher “Mezz Crosby” on the WB’s “Nick Freno: Licenced Teacher”. Subsequent roles as teachers on shows such as the Disney Chanel’s “That’s So Raven” and Nickleodeon’s “Taina” further showcase Clinton’s trademark guy-next-door appeal with. Additional guest appearances on other sitcoms have shown that Clinton’s talents definitely reach beyond the stand-up stage.

Upon signing with the Commercials Unlimited agency Clinton began to work in television commercials. With what one casting director called “a natural ability to connect” Clinton was cast to star in numerous national commercials including Jeep, Subway, Circuit City, Old Navy, 21st Century, Nissian, and AC Delco.

Stand-up remains Clinton Jackson’s first love and greatest passion. In addition to comedy clubs he is very popular on the corporate event circuit, doing shows in which he often incorporates his keen ability to improvise with his audience. The San Francisco Chronicle says, “on stage Clinton Jackson moves as if he were in a boxing match delivering material that is not only hilarious to hear but brilliantly visual as well. He’s good natured, clever, and engaging with a unique point of view, earning him the respect of his peers and giving him a broad cross-over appeal. “

Jeff Wayne – Raconteur

Jeff Wayne Raconteur
Now available on iTunes!   Jeff Wayne - Raconteur

The dictionary defines ‘raconteur’ as “one who tells stories with skill and wit.” This is the perfect description of Jeff Wayne as he relates original stories of show business legends Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Jerry Lewis, Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, The Beatles, Bela Lugosi, Andy Kaufman, Jay Leno and a host of others.

Wayne’s comic brilliance is only matched by his fascination with the truly great showbiz talents. It has driven him to meet many of his idols and extract from them some of their best stories. Not that it has always been easy. After a grueling night with Debbie Reynolds, Wayne found himself begging the aging star to let him go home! Not to mention a very hilarious moment backstage with Jerry Lewis just as his famed telethon was about to go on the air!

So pour yourself a glass of wine, relax and listen. Wayne will tell you what happened to Errol Flynn at the infamous orgy of Havana midgets! The naked truth behind Sheena Easton’s outrageous backstage behavior! And the shocking reason the tape of Elvis’ last concert must never be shown! Told with the wit and relish of a true raconteur!

REVIEW: Adam Hunter: Being Adam Hunter by Emma Kat Richardson, Punchline Magazine

REVIEW: Adam Hunter: Being Adam Hunter
by Emma Kat Richardson, Punchline Magazine

What is it like, to be Adam Hunter? Only one man on Earth can be absolutely certain, but if the young comedian’s most recent album, Being Adam Hunter, is any indication, it’s an experience something akin to heading up a frat house with extra Ritalin prescriptions to spare. Adam Hunter

Not that this is a bad thing, necessarily. The album’s 14 tracks are a killer dosage of cocky laced with cheeky, and it’s Hunter’s manic, kinetic style that gives Being Adam Hunter a sporadic sense of charm that an album like this would otherwise be lacking.Adam Hunter

With lightning quick subject changes, Hunter calls to mind a sloppier, boorish version of Steven Wright. Barely any topic is left untackled as Hunter plows through 42 minutes of sex, violence, religion, politics, drugs, music, and, well, he wouldn’t be much fun if he didn’t swing right back around to sex again.

But rather than offending, the album is guilty of being charming when, by all rights, it should be off-putting. Tracks like “GILF” and “Sooo Broke” are downright hilarious, sparking more than just a scant few laugh-out-loud moments. (“I work for this nonprofit company,” Hunter professes in “Sooo Broke.” “It’s called my career.”)

The best thing about Being Adam Hunter, really, is the comedian’s uncanny ability to punctuate bouts of gross-out humor with surprisingly astute observations. It’s all well-worn territory here, but being young and contemporary only works in Hunter’s favor. If anything is proved, it’s that sex jokes don’t need to remain stale and stagnant – these days, they can be spiced up with Facebook and Twitter references.

Perhaps Hunter himself sums it up best in a track called “Myspace, Facebook,Twatter”: “I used to smoke pot and take Ritalin. Made me focus really hard on nothing.” Being Adam Hunter may not be the most dignified position in the world, but it sure is a helluva lot of fun.

Bobby Collins I’m On The Boat

Bobby Collins I'm On The Boat

Prepare to bust a gut! This is Bobby Collins’ fifth comedy CD release on Uproar! Who has a bigger following that this hip, tell-it-like-it-is comic? His numerous television appearances has made him a favorite among audiences of all ages. His infectious smile and laugh are contagious.

Bobby Collins has starred in both TV shows and movies, but his reputation in comedy is the real backbone of his career. Having released several CDs, Collins has toured extensively with his stand-up — most of which is made up of his own observations and matters to which diverse audiences can relate. He’s funny, and cleaner than most, but don’t think he’s going to G-rate any of the smart-ass thoughts that frequently spring to his mind. Creative Loafing caught up with Collins and asked about the start of his career in the comedy biz, as well as what audiences can expect at his shows.
