La Wanda Page – Mutha is Half a Word

La Wanda Page Mutha is Half a WordBeware the fruminous Bandersnatch … and here she is! Years of eating fire as the Bronze Fire Goddess have forged La Wanda’s tongue into a dazzling white-hot weapon. Like a cat-o-nine tails she lashes at the square society about her with rare humor and insight, heavily laced with sex-symbolism and womanly wiles.

La Wanda closes the gap between words and language in “Mutha Is Half A Word” and puts language through the most rigorous, bawdy, raucous jokes and gems ever to scorch the atmosphere. Words will never be the same!

Clinton Jackson – ‘Nuff Said

Clinton Jackson 'Nuff Said
Now available on iTunes!   Clinton Jackson - Nuff Said

Clinton Jackson is a rarity-a comedian who works clean. A fighter against stereotypes, he has been compared to a young Bill Cosby. His comedy is mostly observational -about life, kids. On stage he dances as if he were in a boxing match, delivering material that is as much fun to watch as it is to hear. He is clever and engaging.

On Nuff Said, Clinton reflects on life in America today. We are privy to his personal opinions on everything from the “San Francisco scene,” to “Heaven’s Gate/Star Wars,” to the “un(i)-bomber,” to feminine “mood changes.” His comical observations will make you see life in a different light than ever before-and a welcome change it is.

La Wanda Page – Preach On, Sister, Preach On!

La Wanda Page Preach On, Sister, Preach On!
Now available on iTunes!   La Wanda Page - Preach on Sister! Preach On

A comedienne turned actress who rose to fame as outspoken bible-thumper Aunt Ester in Redd Foxx’s hit sitcom Sanford and Son, LaWanda Page performed with such other famous contemporaries as Richard Pryor and Rudy Ray Moore before finding success on the small screen. A native of Cleveland who grew up in St. Louis, Page first hit the stage as an exotic dancer and chorus girl billed “the Bronze Goddess of Fire” (due to her penchant for playing with fire on-stage) before fully realizing her talents as a standup comic. Subsequently approached by Foxx to star in Sanford and Son, Page tickled television viewers’ funny bones with her memorable role as Foxx’s aggressively religious sister-in-law in the original series’ spin-off The Sanford Arms, and the 1980 revival Sanford. Throughout the 1980s and ’90s, Page crafted a feature-film career with minor roles in such comedies as Zapped! (1982), My Blue Heaven (1990), Friday (1995), and Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood (1996). Always retaining her fiery approach to comedy, Page also performed on-stage in productions of The Inquest of Sam Cooke and Take It to the Lord…Or Else.

Ellen Cleghorne – Mermaid

Now available on iTunes!   Ellen Cleghorne - Mermaid

The Saturday Night Live alum brings her brash sense of humor to Mermaid, recorded live at the Riviera Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Her hilarious segments include: Sights and Sounds of My Gym, The Time I Met Oprah and The Problem with Braids.

A bright, inventive sketch player and comic actor whose portrayals of such characters as Zoraida, the in-your-face NBC page, and Queen Shaniqua, the Afrocentric critic, on four seasons of “Saturday Night Live” (1991-95) put her on the upward career tract.

Ellen Cleghorne was raised in the projects of Brooklyn, and after earning a degree at Hunter College on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, began performing standup in clubs throughout New York City. She also performed with “The Family, Inc.”, a troupe which performed mainly at prisons, and appeared in two productions with the New York Shakespeare Festival, “Marriage Proposal,” and “Looking for Tomorrow.” Although she had been featured on several episodes of Keenen Ivory Wayans’ variety series “In Living Color” (Fox) in the early 1990s, Cleghorne was noticed by the producers of “Saturday Night Live” while performing at a New York comedy club and was asked to join the show in 1991. During the course of four seasons, she only created original characters, but offered dead-on impersonations of Anita Hill, Whoopi Goldberg, and singer Natalie Cole, among others. She withdrew from “SNL” to headline her own sitcom, the short-lived “Cleghorne” (1995-96), playing a single mother coping with daily life on the fledgling new network, The WB.

Cleghorne’s work in feature films was slower in getting established. She made a quick appearance in “Turk 182″ (1985), but did not have a part of substance until Nora Ephron’s “This is My Life” (1992), as a talk show host. She also had a supporting role in the Ellen DeGeneres vehicle “Mr. Wrong” (1996).

La Wanda Page – Pipe Layin’ Dan

La Wanda Page Pipe Layin' Dan
Now available on iTunes!   La Wanda Page - Pipe Layin Dan

LA WANDA is more than a match for any man, with a double-bladed tongue that tears off piece after piece of fantastic laugh-loaded comedy. Recorded and photograhed live and in bed, the action is sometimes frantic. The audience participation gets out of hand and Pipe Layin’ Dan can’t lay it down fast enough to please all the performers and spectators til LA WANDA joins in.

La Wanda tells it like it is … hot, fast and fragrant sex, soul and sin intermingled. Leaving out none of the four-letter stuff, keeping her one eye on Pipe Layin’ Dan and the other on the man she’s workin’, both hands busy in the tool box and her mouth goin’ for the record is what makes La Wanda the Queen of Soul Comedy … the funniest broad in bed or on record.

Be a plumber’s helper … pick up on Pipe Layin’ Dan … he’s got the world’s greatest plumbing (according to La Wanda) .. and La Wanda’s got the biggest, funniest, sexiest mouth to tell of it (and other bawdy stories).

Marquez – Under the Influence

Marquez Under the Influence
Now available on iTunes!   Marquez - Under the Influence

Get High Off This…

Marquez The Greatest (known on Planet Comedy as King of the Underground) began as a seed planted in the fertile streets of Los Angeles. He began smoking stand-up comedy with one goal in mind—to make people laugh. But it has evolved into hilarious, philosophical blunts through which the pain of life generally and his life specifically is turned into the chronic high of laughter.

With the potential of Marquez’s potency being recognized, he remains firmly planted in the L.A. sun under the Hollywood stars and continues to crystallize. The influences of Muhammad Ali and Richard Pryor are detectable but the Greatest’s brand of humor is all his own.

Clinton Jackson

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

Born and raised in Oakland, California, Cinton Jackson is the youngest of 3 and the only son. An imaginative child inclined to perform, Clinton stood empty handed at “Show & Tell”, told his jokes and officially claimed his identity as a stand-up comic at the age of 9.

After graduating from high school Clinton began to hone his craft in San Francisco’s thriving comedy scene, quickly moving up the ranks to become one of the youngest headliners around. He has appeared on many stand-up comedy television shows including his own half hour special on Comedy Central and most recently The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson. When not headlining his own shows Clinton has been the opening act for such notable artist as Aretha Franklin, Donna Summer, Dennis Miller, Chris Rock, and Steven Wright. Clinton has also recorded and released two full length comedy CDs, both of which are regularly featured on satellite radio comedy channels.

Following an acclaimed showing at HBO’s prestigious Aspen Comedy Festival, Clinton was cast to co-star as affable science teacher “Mezz Crosby” on the WB’s “Nick Freno: Licenced Teacher”. Subsequent roles as teachers on shows such as the Disney Chanel’s “That’s So Raven” and Nickleodeon’s “Taina” further showcase Clinton’s trademark guy-next-door appeal with. Additional guest appearances on other sitcoms have shown that Clinton’s talents definitely reach beyond the stand-up stage.

Upon signing with the Commercials Unlimited agency Clinton began to work in television commercials. With what one casting director called “a natural ability to connect” Clinton was cast to star in numerous national commercials including Jeep, Subway, Circuit City, Old Navy, 21st Century, Nissian, and AC Delco.

Stand-up remains Clinton Jackson’s first love and greatest passion. In addition to comedy clubs he is very popular on the corporate event circuit, doing shows in which he often incorporates his keen ability to improvise with his audience. The San Francisco Chronicle says, “on stage Clinton Jackson moves as if he were in a boxing match delivering material that is not only hilarious to hear but brilliantly visual as well. He’s good natured, clever, and engaging with a unique point of view, earning him the respect of his peers and giving him a broad cross-over appeal. “
