Margaret Smith – As it Should Be

Margaret Smith As it Should Be Comedy CD

Margaret Smith, winner of the 9th Annual American Comedy award for “Best Stand-Up Comic – Female” in 1994, makes dysfunctional family life the backbone of her act. Dead pan delivery, blank-faced and funny sums up her dark humor. She is a child out of six in a demented, dysfunctional Middle American family. However, she contends that all families are dysfunctional in some way or another.

She then went away to college, and eventually needed money. Since she was from Chicago, she tried to get a job at Second City as would pay half of the tuition for classes. Second City lasted three-and-a-half years. Writing many of the sketches for the group. She gravitated to New York City, where she began her stand-up career.

Her incredibly funny CD, titled “As It Should Be” has a liner note on the cover from Jay Leno. Her list of roles in Television and Film include parts in Martin Scorsese’s “Goodfellas”, the remake of “The Blob”, the Wachowski brother’s hit thriller “Bound” with Gina Gershon and Meg Tilly, and a guest starring role in the Pamela Anderson series, “VIP”, to name a few.

Margaret has toured the comedy circuit doing live performances throughout the United States and beyond including Britain, Ireland and Australia, not to mention a one-nighter in Tasmania. “Have you ever seen a Tasmanian Devil? They’re so cute. You want to pet them, ‘till they yawn.”

She’s worked with everyone from Rosie O’Donnell to the late Bob Hope. She says, “Phyllis Diller told me the dirtiest joke I’ve ever heard,” and claims to have had an emotional bottom on The Oprah Winfrey Show.
